Rabbi Elana Kanter serves as the Director of the Women’s Leadership Institute, a program for expanding the presence of women in Jewish communal leadership. Rabbi Kanter is a graduate of Barnard College, and she was a member of the first class of women of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Rabbinical School. She was ordained in 1989. In 1998, Rabbi Kanter received the Covenant Award for Exceptional Jewish Educators. Rabbi Kanter also serves as co-Rabbi of The New Shul, in Scottsdale.
