Rabbi Emma Kippley-Ogman supports the Jewish community at Macalester in co-creating vibrant Jewish cultural, religious and spiritual life on campus, and walks alongside students of any tradition (or none) seeking to engage emotionally and spiritually during the rite of passage crucible of higher education – in moments of joy and of struggle.  Emma is rooted in the Jewish textual tradition as provocation, challenge, and inspiration around the most important questions of our time and our own lives.  Emma is interested in embodied spirituality as a source of healing, mystical teaching and practice, and possibilities for redeeming religious dialogue in the public sphere – in particular by joining across traditions and cultures towards authentic connection and shared work for justice.  Emma is ordained by the pluralistic Rabbinical School of Hebrew College, and has a BA in History of Science from Harvard College.  She has served two Conservative synagogues, and communities in Jerusalem and Saratov, Russia.  Emma lives in St. Paul with her partner, Benj, and their two young children.
