Whisk(e)y Connoisseur, Day-Trip Adventurer, Lover of Ideas

Moshe serves as the Rabbi for Base Logan Square. He wholeheartedly believes ideas and creativity build and shape relationships and that relationships build and shape creativity and ideas. Together these enrich community, Torah, and our Jewish lives.

Moshe grew up in the Pacific Northwest and began his Jewish journey during his undergrad while studying Hebrew and reading Jewish thought. Yet what really made him fall desperately in love with Judaism and decide to convert was his experience of Shabbat.

Since leaving the Northwest, Moshe has bounced around the East Coast for over a decade, sojourning for a good while in Boston where he attended Hebrew College and received Rabbinic Ordination. Moshe studied at Yeshivat Hadar in New York City and studied at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Prior to that he graduated from Yale Divinity School with a Master of Arts in Religion. Before Base, Moshe taught Religious Studies and History at a boarding school in Northwest Connecticut–think Dead Poets Society, Oh Captain, My Captain! Moshe served as the Rabbinic Intern at Shir Tikvah and Temple Israel Boston.

Moshe is married to Ariana who he met the day after he converted. It was b’shert, fate. Together they have a curious and energetic toddler named Toviah Tzvi, and they can be seen chasing him through local public libraries and parks.
