Shira Zeliger was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and received her BA in Religious Studies and History and her Bachelor of Education through the Jewish Teacher Education Program at York University. She received a dual MA in Near Eastern/Judaic Studies and Jewish Professional Leadership through the Hornstein Program at Brandeis University. She has also studied at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem and worked for Camp Ramah, the Jewish Agency for Israel, and the AviChai Foundation in Jerusalem. Shira spent four years teaching Jewish History, Jewish Thought, and Tanakh at the Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto and also served as head of the Jewish Thought department there before moving to Baltimore, where she has taught at the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community High School, private Judaics, Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutoring, and adult education courses at various local congregations. |
